The wrath of soccer moms

Do not mess with soccer moms. They are organized, they are vindictive, and in this case, they are right.

In response to a bill recently proposed in Virginia’s House of Delegates that would ban all use of both public and private athletic fields and swimming pools before 8 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and *all day* Sunday without the unanimous *written* consent of all homeowners within 65 feet of the field/pool, the soccer mom set flooded every elected official they could think of with angry emails.

What follows is a partially edited transcript of the IM conversation yesterday in which my coworker gives me the link to this story:

Coworker: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/23/AR2006012301801.html

Coworker: esp on a school night but otherwise suck it up
Dan: where else should they go? what are their other options? video games? DRUGS?
Dan: fucking?
Coworker: no kidding
Coworker: hot damn where do i sign up
Dan: take away all legitimate outlets for your kid’s entertainment and then wonder why they get depressed and find trouble.
Dan: sometimes i just want to slap people around for a while.
Dan: dipshits
Coworker: i jsut want to blow them up on I-66
Dan: that sounds like it would generate a lot of paperwork.
Dan: i don't roll that way

You get the idea.
