What do they know that we don’t?

This diver is braver than I am
Animals know stuff. Rats desert doomed ships before the human crew figures it out. Cows find shelter 30 minutes before a tornado hits. Somehow, birds know to eat like mad right before a storm.

So just what, I would like to ask, is going on? In the last week a plethora of weird animal stories have inundated the news. There was of course the whale swimming up the Thames in central London, but also the mass invasion of giant jellyfish along the coasts of Japan, the snake and hamster that became buddies and the soccer-playing goldfish.

What does it all mean? What horrible disaster are they trying to tell us about? These clues have got to add up to something, but I’m not smart enough to figure it out. Maybe the hyper-advanced dolphins will tell us.

PS – I’ve been wanting to use “plethora” ever since The Three Amigos. Score!

I read somewhere or other that animals in the wrong place are harbingers of doom.

"harbinger" - that's a good word too. :)
