Bringing democracy to America

Clicking enlarges me
Bush wanted different plates. Really.
The “stars are aligning”, says U.S. Representative Tom Davis (R-VA), for the District of Columbia to get what Baghdad already has: voting representation in the national assembly. Davis is introducing a bill that would expand the House of Representatives by two seats, one of which would be assigned to the District and the other to perpetually conservative Utah.

So one seat in the house, nothing in the Senate, and at the cost of giving an extra vote to Republicans (because heaven forbid fair representation of voters trump partisanship). It’s a far cry from full participation by the District, but it’s at least a positive move forward.

What I don’t understand is how anyone anywhere could possibly under any circumstances oppose this idea. And yet people do.

Is that a real DC plate? Or did you do some photo-shopping?

Nope, that's a real plate. It's now the default DC license tag, though you can opt-out and get one that says dc.gov if you so choose.
