La Ciudad de México

American cities have a car problem. European cities have an economy problem. African cities have a safety problem. Mexico City has all sorts of problems, but it sure is interesting to look at. I stumbled on this online album showing the world’s second largest urban agglomeration in all its wonder. The pictures, some of which can only be described as surreal, are all 100% authentic, genuine images of actual scenes in La Ciudad. Ten or so highlights below. As usual, click to enlarge...

Smog is a problem.


Mexico City is a big town. Only Tokyo has more people.


Bull fighting is real and popular.


Parts of the city, such as the Palacio of Bellas Artes, appear downright European.


... But millions live in slums like this and the picture below.




... While others bask in luxury.
