Throw a lasso and pull it down

NASA has announced plans to colonize the moon with a permanent base, most likely near the south pole. Bush-I talked about something like this, but with the Shuttle fleet aging and the International Space Station more or less a done deal, now's the time for NASA to consider new directions.

I'm all for it. When historians 1,000 years from now study ancient American history, it's things like this that will be our legacy. As Sumer gave humanity civilization, Greece gave it democracy, and Rome public infrastructure, so will our contemporary civilization give humanity the heavens. If you ask me, that's worth a few billion dollars.

A saturated, but true-color image of the moon.
