Hurricane destruction isn't REAL destruction

Cost of more unnecessary tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans:
$95 billion.

Cost of defending America from WMDs that don’t exist:
$300 billion.

Cost of saving a major American city from destruction:
 Priceless.

The New York Times makes a good point in a recent editorial. The United States attacked Iraq because (publicly, at least) Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction could be used to destroy a major American city. Thanks to Hurricane Katrina a major American city has indeed been destroyed. Where is the $32 billion needed to save it?

(Thanks to Veritas et Venustas for the heads up.)
