America slowly comes to its senses
President Bush's job approval ratings have hit a new low. According to a CBS poll only 26% of Americans think the country is headed in the right direction, half the number from 2003.
If, like me, you're visually oriented, you might find this graph interesting. Courtesy Professor Pollkatz, it illustrates all the major approval polls in one handy spot.
As you can see, there is a clear downward trend in all the polls over time throughout Bush's entire presidency, save for a few key events: the terrorist attacks of September 11, the invasion of Iraq and the capture of Saddam Hussein. The one and only gradual upward trend - focused around the 2004 election - is proof of what a few hundred-million dollars in advertising can buy you.
