White people "find", black people "loot"

I don't mean for this blog to become Katrinaspotting, it's just that the partial destruction of a major American city is a really, really big deal.

Anyway.

I am usually not one to jump on the racism bandwagon. Most of the time I think there are other explanations for things that get labeled as such. But not today. I saw this and was pretty appalled as well. The justification from the AP is that the photographers were narrating what they saw. The black people were definitely looting as they were going into a store and taking what they could. The white people were in deep water and plucked the food right out. Had they not taken it, it would have just floated away. So, that's their distinction.
