The Old Testament this is not
A man in Kiev, Ukraine was mauled to death by a lioness at a zoo after crawling into the animal’s paddock and shouting that God would keep him safe (story). According to a zoo official, "A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery."
Sounds like a good nominee for the Dawin Awards. I personally am so moved by this gentleman’s plight that I’m debuting a new tag in his honor.

This reminds me of two things.
One, there was a time when typing dumb mother (mother being half a word) into Google returned a link to George W. Bush.
Two, a joke.
Just before Katrina hit New Orleans, a man started praying to God for salvation from the Storm.
A police suv showed up and offered to evacuate him. He refused, saying the lord would protect him.
The storm hit and the waters started rising. The man prayed harder. A boat showed up offering to rescue him. Again he declined, placing his fath in God.
The waters rose even more, and the man climed on his roof, still praying. A helicoptor came by to rescue him. Once more he declined, because God will protect him.
Finally, he was washed away and he drowned.
He arrived at the gates of Heaven. He asked the Angel processing new arrivals why his prayers were not answered and he was allowed to die.
The Angel said "Let's see." and checked his computer. (Even Heaven is now automated)
"Ah" the Angel said.
We recieved your prayers, and sent an SUV, which you declined. When we recieved your further prayers, we sent a boat, again declined, and finally a helicoptor, also declined.
