I’m a big dork
Imagine if stamp collectors and Trekkies joined forces. It would be horrible. |
The bad news is it will be a prequel detailing the first meeting and early adventures of Kirk and Spock. That sounds lame. The good news - the news that has Trekkies really excited, is that Rick Berman isn’t involved in the new film at all. Berman has been the head of Trek since Gene Roddenberry died, and has pretty much run the franchise into the ground. One of Hollywood’s biggest hacks (he is also responsible for Mission Impossible 2, one of the worst movies ever), Berman proves wrong the famous quote by Henry Mencken – that “no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public."
I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

A prequel, huh? Obviously, they plan to recast those character. Think this is an attempt to launch "Star Trek - The Early Years" or something like that?
I think they think that by using characters with recognizable names it will be enough of a gimmick to draw back the audience they lost with shitty storylines.
Ah. It could work. People are generally stupid. It would work better if they had a good story line.
