Which neocon is right?

Woe is me. I don’t know what to do. By now I expect most readers have heard about this seaport hubbub. A state-owned Arab company is poised to take over shipping operations at six of America’s largest eastern ports. President Bush assures the country there is no problem. Congress considers ways to stop it. Maryland Governor Ehrlich and New York Governor Pataki, both Republicans, lob criticism without restraint.

My instinct is to cheer on anyone who opposes President Bush. Hooray for any failure by Gee Dubbya! But should that instinct continue to rule when the issue is fear-monger-fueled racism? Should it continue to rule when other neoconservatives such as Ehrlich, whom my instinct is also to oppose, are the most vocal critics? What isn’t the President telling us that makes this such an important issue to him that he would threaten a veto and be willing to appear weak on terror?

Great minds think alike. I just posted a long-winded musing on this earlier. After thinking about it and reading some other blogs, I think that he is trying to conceal something about the business deal that transpired. After all, he is threatening to veto a measure that DELAYS the deal so we can LOOK AT IT. He hasn't vetoed anything, but he is ready to veto what is essentially a time out?
